SAM LAKEMAN
Bio
Born in 1975 on the fringes of Dartmoor, UK, Sam grew up surrounded by music. Both his brothers, Seth and Sean, are celebrated artists and they spent their youth playing on the UK folk scene. Sam is a talented pianist and acoustic guitar player, an experienced producer, engineer, song arranger and composer.
Having spent the last 30 years almost exclusively working with his wife, the celebrated Irish singer Cara Dillon, Sam has produced, co-written and arranged all 9 of Cara's albums and continues to perform live alongside her all over the World, his sensitive arrangements and production paramount in helping her earn incredible critical acclaim and a multitude of awards including the Meteor Ireland Music Award, 3 BBC Folk Awards (10 nominations), Hotpress Award, Uncut, Tatler Magazine, and Big Buzz Awards. Her albums have topped the Official UK Indie Album Breakers Chart on several occasions.
During this time Sam has worked in countless studios such as Abbey Road, British Grove, Assault & Battery, Real World, Konk, State Of The Ark, RAK, Livingston, Kore, and Rockfield.
Sam and Cara were first signed to Warners (1995-2000) and then Rough Trade Records (2000-2007) after which they formed their own label, Charcoal Records, in 2008.
Sam has managed Cara's career and has run the label since 2007, overseeing many album release campaigns.
Over the years Sam has performed on countless National TV and Radio broadcasts, Disney soundtracks, and has created music for films and TV. In amongst it all he has managed to find the time to produce other artists, most notably UK Singer-songwriter John Smith, whose 3 albums produced by Sam have enjoyed over 160 million streams.
